This program has been organised by your employer to get you moving in the office!
Itâs hard to know where to start with a new modality like this.... So weâve created a 6 week scheduling program to show you how its done. Below, is everything you need to start your Groove To Move journey. The resources you need to break free from your sedentary life.
Get started today, and within 6 weeks youâll have a movement practice established as a daily routine! Come here at any time and select a session you see fits into your day.
There are a number of different types of Groove to Move sessions.
Here is a brief description to help you understand.
DESK MOVERS - Designed to be done either sitting or standing at your desk. For when you are needing some movement in your day, but time isnât on your side. Short, sharp targeted movement sessions to revitalise your body.
5 MINUTE GROOVER - These are designed to get bulk repetitions of movement in a short period of time. Think of these sessions like rehab exercises prescribed by a health professional, except itâs fun! Each session has 5 dance moves that are repeated for 8 counts, allowing you to get a really good feel of the move, while bringing back to life those stagnant body parts.
10 MINUTE MOVERS - Get your whole body moving and your dance practice flowing with this 10 minute session. These sessions start with a nice gentle warm up to get the body moving, then put together 3 different moves into sequences to enhance your dance ability while alleviating the tension in your body.
20 MINUTE EXTENDED MOVERS - An extended version of the 10 Minute Mover, these 20 minute sessions are just what your body needs. The volume of movement acquired over that period of time goes along way to reversing the negative effects of prolonged sedentary postures.
MOVEMENT MEDITATIONS - These sessions focus on slow, gentle & mindful movements, coupled with calming, restorative & relaxing soundscapes. While still engaging the body to counteract desk posture, these sessions have an added meditative effect on the mind.
SLOWED 5 & 10 SESSIONS - This is a great place to start for those less confident in their dance and coordination ability. Structurally the same as the 5 & 10 minute sessions, just slower. For those with less dance experience, these sessions have been slowed down to make it a bit easier for all but still have the same movement types to help counteract all those hours at the desk.
EDUCATION SESSIONS - Blair elaborates in these videos on the concepts and philosophies behind Groove To Move, giving you greater understanding of how this practice is going to help you prepare your body for a sedentary work environment.
